and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514349" lims:id="514349"><Label>(h)</Label><Text>minor waters voyage, Class II.</Text></Paragraph><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514351" lims:id="514351">1987, c. 7, s. 84(F)</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2007-07-01" lims:fid="514352" lims:id="514352" level="1"><TitleText>Home-trade Voyages</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514353" lims:id="514353"><Label>4</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514354" lims:id="514354"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>A home-trade voyage, Class I, means a home-trade voyage in the course of which a steamship goes anywhere within the limits of a home-trade voyage as defined in the <XRefExternal reference-type="act" link="S-9">Canada Shipping Act</XRefExternal>.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514355" lims:id="514355"><Label>(2)</Label><Text>A home-trade voyage, Class II, means a home-trade voyage in the course of which,</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514356" lims:id="514356"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>on the Atlantic coast, a steamship does not go south of the port of New York;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514357" lims:id="514357"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>on the Pacific coast, a steamship does not go south of Portland, Oregon;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514358" lims:id="514358"><Label>(c)</Label><Text>the steamship is at no time more than 120 miles off shore; and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514359" lims:id="514359"><Label>(d)</Label><Text>the distance between suitable ports of refuge on the voyage does not exceed 200 miles.</Text></Paragraph></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514360" lims:id="514360"><Label>(3)</Label><Text>Subject to section 7, a home-trade voyage, Class III, means a home-trade voyage made within the limits specified in the inspection certificate of the steamship making the voyage, in the course of which,</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514361" lims:id="514361"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>on the Atlantic coast, the steamship does not go south of the port of New York;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514362" lims:id="514362"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>on the Pacific coast, the steamship does not go south of Portland, Oregon;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514363" lims:id="514363"><Label>(c)</Label><Text>the steamship is at no time more than 20 miles off shore; and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514364" lims:id="514364"><Label>(d)</Label><Text>the maximum distance between suitable ports of refuge on the route does not at any time exceed 100 miles.</Text></Paragraph></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514365" lims:id="514365"><Label>(4)</Label><Text>Subject to section 7, a home-trade voyage, Class IV, means a home-trade voyage in the course of which a steamship does not go beyond certain sheltered waters specified in the inspection certificate, or, in fine weather, on short voyages so specified, beyond the limits of those sheltered waters, between May 1st and September 30th in any year.</Text></Subsection><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514367" lims:id="514367">1987, c. 7, s. 84(F)</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2007-07-01" lims:fid="514368" lims:id="514368" level="1"><TitleText>Inland Voyages</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514369" lims:id="514369"><Label>5</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514370" lims:id="514370"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>An inland voyage, Class I, means an inland voyage in the course of which a steamship goes anywhere within the limits of an inland voyage as defined in the <XRefExternal reference-type="act" link="S-9">Canada Shipping Act</XRefExternal>.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514371" lims:id="514371"><Label>(2)</Label><Text>Subject to section 7, an inland voyage, Class II, means an inland voyage made within the limits specified in the inspection certificate of the steamship making the voyage in the course of which</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514372" lims:id="514372"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>the steamship is at no time more than 20 miles off shore; and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514373" lims:id="514373"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>the maximum distance between suitable ports of refuge on the route does not exceed 100 miles.</Text></Paragraph></Subsection><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514375" lims:id="514375">1987, c. 7, s. 84(F)</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2007-07-01" lims:fid="514376" lims:id="514376" level="1"><TitleText>Minor Waters Voyages</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514377" lims:id="514377"><Label>6</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514378" lims:id="514378"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>A minor waters voyage, Class I, means a minor waters voyage in the course of which a steamship goes anywhere within the limits of a minor waters voyage as defined in the <XRefExternal reference-type="act" link="S-9">Canada Shipping Act</XRefExternal>.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514379" lims:id="514379"><Label>(2)</Label><Text>Subject to section 7, a minor waters voyage, Class II, means a minor waters voyage made in certain lakes or rivers that are specified in the inspection certificate, and the greatest width of which does not exceed two miles, or a voyage in the course of which a steamship does not go beyond the limits of certain sheltered waters specified in the inspection certificate, or on short voyages so specified, beyond the limits of such lakes, rivers or waters, in fine weather, between May 1st and September 30th in any year, provided that, where a voyage is made in any lake or river that has a width in excess of two miles for a short distance only and it appears to the Board to be unreasonable to have such a voyage classed as a minor waters voyage, Class I, the Board may, in its discretion, class that voyage as a minor waters voyage, Class II.</Text></Subsection><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514381" lims:id="514381">1987, c. 7, s. 84(F)</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2007-07-01" lims:fid="514382" lims:id="514382" level="1"><TitleText>Board to Decide Class</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514383" lims:id="514383"><Label>7</Label><Text>The Board shall decide, from time to time, having regard to the degree of risk that may be encountered, whether any voyage herein defined as a home-trade voyage, Class III, home-trade voyage, Class IV, inland voyage, Class II, or minor waters voyage, Class II, is a voyage of the next higher class, as herein defined.</Text></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2007-07-01" lims:fid="514384" lims:id="514384" level="1"><TitleText>Classification of Steamships</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514385" lims:id="514385"><Label>8</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514386" lims:id="514386"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>Steamships certified for home-trade voyages, Class I, II, III or IV, may be known as home-trade steamships, Class I, home-trade steamships, Class II, home-trade steamships, Class III, or home-trade steamships, Class IV, as the case may be.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514387" lims:id="514387"><Label>(2)</Label><Text>Steamships certified for inland voyages, Class I or II, may be known as inland steamships, Class I, or inland steamships, Class II, as the case may be.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="514388" lims:id="514388"><Label>(3)</Label><Text>Steamships certified for minor waters voyages, Class I or II, may be known as minor waters steamships, Class I, or minor waters steamships, Class II, as the case may be.</Text></Subsection></Section></Body></Regulation>
